En Masse: Ground Hum

7.1 Sound Installation

The Lawn Series – August 18, 2024

Paige Alice Naylor ยท En Masse: Ground Hum
En Masse was a live, multichannel sonic journey through transitory space informed by cicada song and the human experience. Here, a merging occurs, time stops, we live and die simultaneously.
This 7.1 outdoor sound installation involved 7 speakers spread out across a rectangular patch of grass, creating an immersive soundscape of cicada recordings manipulated in real time, along with vocal improvisation and stories of encounters with non-human creatures.
